How Facebook Helps Parents Of Children With Autism

With one out of every 110 children receiving diagnoses of autism, parents are finding answers to questions about the neurological disorder on Facebook.

Many parents are finding that just posting questions about everything from diet, to finding health-care practitioners in their areas, to locating appropriate schooling for their child with autism, can be answered via Facebook.

We sought answers and actually looked to Facebook for help. We had general knowledge about autism, what new parent these days has not been made aware of it? We posted questions on a few autism pages which were promptly answered by parents, and then, took our acquired info with us to our child’s pediatrician, who co-signed on what we had uncovered on Facebook. It is a very trying and desperate time for us but we know we could always rely on other parents of children with autism via Facebook to offer encouragement, tips and support.
