Kids Suffering From Lack of Sleep Misdiagnosed With ADHD

The New England Center forPediatric Psychology has conducted a study in which researchers have revealed that often parents misjudge their kids of being suffering from ADHD at the time when they are suffering from AD due to poor sleep.

The ADHD (Attention Deficit Disorder andAttention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder) was said to be the main disorder among kids and as much as five million children were thought to be suffering from this problem.

Researchers, who conducted the study has quite different opinion and were of the view that Attention Deficit disorder symptoms match with that of the ADHD so majority of the parents misinterpret the information.

Dr. Dan Rubin was of the view that lack of optimum sleep makes them hyperactive and due to lack of sleep, they are not able to concentrate, which could happen with anyone. They demand attention from parents as they are already irritated and do things, which could help them, gain attention from their parents.

More than 700 kids, their families were surveyed and their views on ADHD were taken. It was revealed that those kids, who do not sleep on their beds and do not have regular bed routine, were termed to be suffering from ADHD from their parents.

That is the biggest mistake of parents as it is possible he fears to sleep alone or he has slept in day, so he is not able to sleep in night. But adults have set pattern of doing things, so they feel awkward if their kids do something, which is not consistent.

So, it is always better to consult doctor and let him decide what the problem is. Another thing that has been realized during this study is boys are more likely to be diagnosed with ADHD than girls.
